When coming from Fortuna go west toward the volcano about 20 km. Two km after passing the Tabacon Resort you will come to a small police booth and the entrance road to the Arenal National Park, turn left and follow the signs for 9 km on the dirt road until you arrive to the village of El Castillo. There will be a little school on the corner, turn left and go 800 meters through the village… after you go up the cement hill the Butterfly Conservatory is just 100 meters past the Snake House.
When coming from the Pacific Coast you will pass through Canas, Tilaran, and Nuevo Arenal before arriving to the Arenal Lake dam. 2 km after crossing the dam you will come to the road to El Castillo, turn right and follow the signs for 9 km on the dirt road until you arrive to the village of El Castillo.
